Dot Physicals

DOT Physicals are required when you operate a commercial motor vehicle. As a commercial motor vehicle operator, long and stressful hours can be a common issue, and this DOT physical is designed ensure that you can endure it.

Why do I need a DOT physical?

The federal motor carrier safety administration requires that anyone operating a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) or gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), or gross combination weight (GCW) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 10,001 pounds or more; or carrying more than 15 people or more than 8 people when direct compensation is involved, to obtain a physical before operating a vehicle.

What do I need to bring to a DOT Physical?

- If you are diabetic, please bring in your sugars for the last week.

- If you have had a previous sleep apnea test we will need those results as well.

- Any past medical history.

What do you look at during a DOT Physical?

We will do an assessment on your entire body, looking at everything from the top of your head all the way to your toes and everything in between. Your vision and hearing will be tested as well as your blood pressure, pulse, heart and lungs.

How long is a DOT Physical good for?

CMV physicals are usually good for two years but can be less depending on your medical circumstances. Bus physicals are good for one year.
